Finding Your Foundation Shade Without Guessing

Undertone first, depth second — and why the back of your hand is the worst place to test.
Most mismatched foundation is not the wrong depth. It is the wrong undertone.
Find the undertone
Look at the inside of your wrist in daylight. Green veins suggest a warm undertone, blue suggests cool, and a mix suggests neutral. Indian skin most often falls warm or olive, which is why beige shades read grey.
Test on the jaw, not the hand
The back of your hand is usually darker than your face. Swatch three shades along the jawline and step into daylight — the one that disappears is yours.
Skin changes shade between seasons. Keep a lighter bottle for winter and mix when you need to.
